Bryan Velazquez Essays (737 words) - Emerging Technologies
Bryan Velazquez Brown CIS 110 10/4/2017 Drones A drone is defined as an unmanned aerial vehicle or a UAV. In simple terms it is a fairly small object that is put in the air without a pilot and can do many thinks from taking videos to pictures to even being used as a weapon but the main thing is that there isn't anyone controlling it from the inside of it. Drones have been around for longer than most people would think but just recently you are starting to see them used in ways that you wouldn't imagine. With more and more technology that comes out, people are putting that into drone to make them able to do things advanced. In this paper I will talk about how drones are emerging in the technology world today and how pretty soon we will be seeing more and more of them especially in the workplace. When drones were first invented they were mainly used in the military for the use of taking photographs but as they became more and more advanced they became weapons and were used in combat. The first time a drone was used in the intention of killing was in 2002 and that shows the growth that it has endured in its time from only being used to take aerial photos to being used to target and kill CITATION Sif17 \l 1033 (Sifton, 2017) . That was a short recap on the beginning of drones and what they were primarily used for but in todays society drones are now beginning to be used in the workplace and one workplace that is beginning this trend of drones is in construction. When you think of construction you don't think of it as being very efficient and also safe but with drones this can fix these problems and improve them drastically. There is about $160 billion loss in America in terms of material loss and waste and having drones on the construction site could improve this number to keep track of all the materials and making sure that it doesn't go to waste causing the construction industry to be more efficient in the amount of money used and wasted CITATION Dil17 \l 1033 (Dillow, 2017) . Drones also provide the ability to inspect critical infrastructures or to site manage. This allows for very dangerous work to get done without having to put anyone in harm's way and risk someone getting hurt or losing their life CITATION Dow17 \l 1033 (Downey , 2017) . Businesses are starting to realize that drones save a lot of time and are more efficient than a human being because every human makes mistakes but with a drone to window for mistakes is very small. In todays world you aren't going to see a construction sit with drones watching it very often but here soon you will because it allows for safer and more efficient conditions. Also with big businesses you will see a big increase with drones due to the risk of having humans inspect the buildings of companies and what might be malfunctioning. Drones are also being used for security purposes due to the ability for them to move around unlike a camera that can only see certain areas depending on where they are put. The bottom line is that businesses and operations are starting to understand the logistics of using drones and how it can impact an industry just by keeping up with materials or inspecting buildings that would be very dangerous for a human to do. It is a much easier alternative and cheaper in the long run and that's why it is emerging and will be used by many big companies soon and will slowly go down to the smaller companies and industries once they become a part of mainstream technology. Criminology Example
Criminology Example Criminology ââ¬â Coursework Example Criminology Criminology Strain theory s that there are many social structures in the society, which could lead an individual into committing crime. These social structures can be grouped under three categories. The first is related with the nature of an individualââ¬â¢s relationship with others. When one has negative relationships with others in terms of not being consistent with how an individual believes should be treated, one tends to get depressed that can lead him or her to crime. The second category occurs when one takes away or threatens to take away ones positively valued stimulus. The third form of strain theory occurs when an individual experiences a negative stimulus. Biological theories of crime state that people are made to commit crime due to biochemical, genetic, and neurological imbalances. Psychological theories state that people are made to commit crimes as a result of personality imbalances that occurred in their childhood. Sociological theories state that indiv iduals are made to commit crime due to their interaction with others and the their environment. Psychological profiling is a tool that can be used by criminal investigation agencies in establishing the psychological state of the person committing crime during the time of the crime. It is used in identifying the criminal being looked for by the investigation team. The Chicago School of Sociology introduced the idea that people are not just born good or bad in their character ââ¬â social situations, people, and some external forces that are found in their environment influence their character. Under this theory, they proposed the social disorganization theory, differential association theory, and social learning theory. Numerous crimes are committed on daily basis. This occurs due to the fact that in the society, people face different problems that cause frustration, and sometimes depression. This occurs in all communities in the world. On the other hand, when people are expose d to violence especially in their early stages of life, their personality traits develop into considering criminology as something that is socially acceptable. They indulge in criminal activities as part of an acceptable lifestyle. Siegel L. J. (2008). Criminology. Beverly, MA: Wadsworth Publishing.

Learning Activity #1 Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Learning Activity #1 - Assignment Example The study designed an interpretive phenomenological study on the influences of AD-prepared nurses returning to school in search of a BDN or higher degree in Nursing (Orsolini-Hain, 2012). Thus, data was collected from a target population of AD-prepared nurses, from 2006-2008. Therefore, a sample of 22 AD-prepared nurses without a BDN or bachelors degree was used. These nurses responded to fliers and were compensated for participation by the study. All of the participants had been in practice for about 10 years. However, the nurses had varied years of experience. As a result, the mean amount of experience was 19.5 years. The ages of the participants ranged from 36-64 with the mean age being 48 years. The nurses were sampled from different genders and ethnic backgrounds. The main method of data collection utilized by the study was interviewing. It is imperative to note that the objectives of the study would not be fully realized through the use of a static interview tool. As a result, a dynamic interview tool was employed by the study. Thus, AD-prepared nurses were engaged in an interpretive phenomenological study with regard to their willingness to return to school to obtain higher degrees in nursing (Orsolini-Hain, 2012). As a result, participants filled out a demographic tool and interviews lasting one hour were also conducted. These interviews were digitally recorded and transcribed. The interview process involved the administration of a pilot study followed by other structured studies that resulted from the pilot study. Thus, multiple interviews were employed in understanding the AD-prepared nursesââ¬â¢ perspectives on their willingness to go back to school for further education programs. Since this was a qualitative study, no intervention w as tested. In my experience, I have been a RN for only 4 years following my recent graduation.
